The Matthew Watson General Store is the longest operating store in the entire Yukon. The original structure was burned in 1909 and was rebuilt in 1911 from buildings moved from the abandoned town of Conrad. Walking through its doors is a bit like stepping back in time and lots of old store items are still on display on its high shelves. If you are looking for Carcross souveniers, this is the place to shop. And for those with a sweet tooth, you can find the town's oldest ice cream shop tucked into one end of the building. But if you ask the local kids, the best thing about the Matthew Watson General Store is its candy shop. Definitely the best selection in town!
