Everyone loves northern lights and Carcross is one of the best places to see them.

We don’t know what it is – maybe it’s the town’s location or the wide open sky over the lake and surrounding mountains.

But for those of you wanting to come in the shoulder seasons or experience the true northern winter, catching a glimpse of northern lights in Carcross is a wonder.

Longtime resident (and S2S Trail Crew member) Wayne Roberts fell in love with photographing the northern lights around Carcross. Many of his best shots were taken from the deck of his house on the shores of Bennett Lake. Wayne passed away in 2016, but his photos are a lasting reminder of the love had for the beauty of the Carcross area.

I’m like a kid in a candy store.
